Our vision is for families and babies to experience the most comfortable and
welcoming stay possible in the Neonatal Services Unit.
We believe parents should be provided with the knowledge to effectively care and
advocate for the ongoing needs of their babies.

The Featherweight Club is a volunteer group established to provide support to families who currently have or have previously had a baby in Special Care, in particular within the Neonatal Services Unit at Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg, Victoria.   We aim to promote positive relationships between families, Mercy Hospital for Women and the community.

Our support for families includes:

  • Regular Featherweight Club newsletters sent to every family who has had a baby in the Special Care Nursery
  • Funding for equipment or refurbishment that will make life in hospital more comfortable for babies and their families
  • Funding to assist parents whose circumstances place them under undue financial strain and hardship during their baby's stay in hospital
  • Initiatives to improve education and information about raising babies and children who have been in Special Care
None of the above can happen without volunteers or money.
That's where you can support the Featherweight Club.
Special care for families with special babies.
